Homeschooling families are invited to a program on the legacy of John Greenleaf Whittier.

Theme: In School Days

Growing up, John Greenleaf Whittier and his siblings, Mary, Matthew, and Elizabeth attended a one-room schoolhouse, like many other children in the 1800s. Participants in this program will get to experience a multi-age classroom while practicing lessons similar to what the Whittier children may have studied 200 years ago. We will also read John Greenleaf Whittier’s poem “In School Days” together as a group.

Skills practiced in this program: reading, writing, arithmetic, public speaking
